I really dislike giving a poor review to any writer, but this book is awful. The plot is the old tried and true special forces (name your group) war hero returns to find family member abducted and taken for whatever reason. There was even a movie, "Taken" which sort of paralleled the book.Thank goodness I did not pay the $13.00 bucks for the hard copy. The 99 cents was too much. I read the entire book only to wonder at the over the top improbable/impossible action and the amateurish dialog between our two heroes. Whenever I read "It's only a flesh wound.", and the hero is immediately back in heavy duty action, I recognize claptrap. These guys were shot and beat up so many times, but didn't lose a step. Too bad. I hope John improves his style. Maybe review some Stephen Hunter books for realism tips. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book. I read the book Strike Point last year that he wrote. I had enjoyed that one. This one I enjoyed even more than the last one. It is a fast paced story about Rob Walker who returns home after completing a mission overseas. When he returns home he discovers his sister is continuing to hang around in a bad crowd and is possibly doing drugs. One night Marianne witnesses a drug deal and gets abducted. Rob begins his own mission to bring his sister Marianne home.If you enjoy thrillers that are fast paced. I would highly recommend this book.
